ADPIC: ACONTECIMIENTO

This colloquium is the seventh organized by the two organizations. The main objective of the colloquium is to update university teachers of intellectual property in developing countries and countries with economies in transition on the activities and instruments of the WIPO and the WTO with focus on important policy issues under negotiation or discussion in the two organizations, and to set these issues in their wider legal and policy context. This will enhance the capacity of universities in these countries to develop national expertise in intellectual property and the capability to provide policy advice to governments on the implications of current negotiations or discussions in the WIPO and WTO. The colloquium will also strengthen and give structure to the exchange of practical information on relevant national or regional experiences between university teachers and the two secretariats.

The colloquium will enable participants to develop practical strategies for improving teaching methodologies, and establish and/or strengthen a network of contacts with each other and with the trainers/experts for continuing development of intellectual property teaching and research.

The working language will be English. Twenty (20) places are available for applicants from developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The costs related to their participation will be borne by the organizers. An additional five places will be available for applicants from developed countries, at their own expense. A copy of the provisional programme for the colloquium is available here.

  • have an advanced degree and teaching experience in intellectual property law or international law/economics/management with a specialization in intellectual property;
  • have an excellent knowledge of English;

    Applicants should identify a specific topical intellectual property policy or legal issue that is currently under active debate or review in the applicant’s country or region, on which he/she would be ready to make a short presentation.
