Case DS76:
Japan — Measures affecting agricultural products
Quick help for downloading
Japan announced that on 23 August 2001 Japan and the US had reached
a mutually satisfactory solution (see document WT/DS76/12) with
respect to conditions for lifting import restrictions on 8 products at
issue, including apples. Japan said it was about the complete its
domestic procedure in order to implement the new quarantine
methodologies agreed upon between the two governments.
Case DS27:
European Communities — Regime for the importation, sale
and distribution of bananas
Quick help for downloading
The
EC presented a further report on its banana import regime informing
that legislative work was taking place on the European Council
Regulation necessary for transferring 100.000 tonnes of bananas from
the C to the B quota and for reserving the C quota for ACP bananas.
However, the EC said that such a modification could only intervene if
and when the EC had obtained the relevant GATT waivers.
While
Ecuador complained that the new European Commission proposal went
further than the EC/US/Ecuador agreement, the European Council
Regulation and even the Cotonou Association Agreement into granting
preferences to African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) countries, St Lucia
responded that on the contrary, ACP countries had had to give up
100.000 tonnes of their C quota.
